This review was conducted to discuss the etiology of autism in the light of current information, to draw attention to the fact that defects in different biological mechanisms cause autism, and to examine the effectiveness of dietary interventions and supplements in relieving ASD symptoms. The effectiveness and reliability of dietary interventions in individuals with ASD are a matter of significant debate, and the evidence for these practices is limited. Furthermore, there is no consensus on establishing an ideal nutritional model for individuals with ASD.
